About the treatments

Acupuncture is one of the most popular and effective contemporary healing techniques, practised in almost every country on the globe. It is part of a comprehensive medical system that has survived over the millennia. It is safe, with no side effects, and its clinical applicability is enormous. It can be used to transform any condition and involves the insertion of fine needles into the skin at specific points.

The main role of Acupuncture is to treat the body as a whole and promote its healing ability, thus restoring its natural balance and eliminating ill health. The theory is that the bodies energy can become obstructed for a many reasons and if left untreated can result in illness. Acupuncture with other modalities of TCM, promotes the free flow of the bodies energy, and thus can restore health and balance to the body

Cupping is an ancient heat therapy which applies bamboo cups to the skin. These create a vacuum to warm the affected area and draw new blood and Qi (“vital energy”) into the affected area, thereby improving the condition and the person’s circulation.

Moxibustion is a heat treatment which is used when appropriate.

Medical Qi gong involves the employment of the practitioner's own Qi to bring about or restore harmonious and smooth flow to the client's Qi, thus helping to restore health and well-being.

Nutritional Counselling

Nutritional counselling or Dietary therapy is a highly sophisticated and ancient specialism in TCM terms. It involves careful monitoring of food and drink intake in order to eliminate disease and speed recovery. The patient is advised regarding the type of food eaten, the time and manner in which it is eaten, or the manner in which it is prepared, in order to promote cure and enhance health

Fertility Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been treating infertility for over 2000 years and has recently been gaining acceptance in the west as a valuable method of restoring reproductive health. Because of its ability to relieve stress, regulate hormone levels and influence the menstrual cycle and ovulation, acupuncture is the treatment of choice for “unexplained infertility”.

Acupuncture & Chinese medicine can be used as a stand alone treatment or as an adjunct to western medicine and IUI/IVF treatment. Many conditions benefit from using both methods at the same time. Acupuncture is not a quick fix and treatment should last a minimum of 3 months, but the benefits are great and the changes are gradual.

Obstetric Acupuncture

In a healthy pregnancy, women who want to avail of the benefits of acupuncture should have weekly treatments up to week 12, monthly treatments from week 13 to week 36 and then weekly treatments from week 37 to 40 to prepare for childbirth.
